About Jason
About Jason
Jason Funk is an author, illustrator, blogger and public speaker with autism who was non-verbal until the age of three. He began creating comics in the first grade, won an award for his short comic, Blob, at the age of 12, and published his first two comics: The Bus Seat and The Merchant of Misfortune at the age of sixteen. He debuted his 100-page adventure graphic novel, Burger Quest, in August of 2023, and his fourth book, The Carbonated Man, is set for release in early 2024.
When he’s not creating comics, Jason enjoys reading, playing video games, and riding his bike. He’s a fan of all things Dr. Who and can’t pass up a good ham sandwich!

At the age of thirteen, Jason met filmmaker, animator, and artist, Yuri Duncan. Yuri began mentoring Jason and together they launched funkworldhq.substack.com, a blog for Jason to showcase his comics and personal essays.

Public Speaking
Public Speaking
Jason is an engaging, inspiring, public speaker who is available to share his incredible story and love of comics with your organization. He has presented to groups ranging from 30 to 2,000 in number and tailors his presentations to meet the needs of each group. He has spoken to numerous elementary, intermediate, and middle schools and was the keynote speaker at the Fishers Arts Council’s disability awareness reception in 2023.
Jason has a natural ability to create entertaining, novel comics on the spot and is available to teach comic book seminars for students of all ages and abilities.
